Okay, here's one thing I don't understand: Winter Semester starts on January 7, 2009, and I just got an email from the teacher of one of my classes saying that we have to do an assignment before class on the 7th! What?! Isn't class supposed to start on the 7th? Who does she think she is? Man, some people take a little bit of authority and just can't wait to exercise unrighteous dominion!!!
Here we are at the end of 2008! Wow!-That's all I can say. This was a good year for me...but i'm glad it's over and that it's time to go back to school.
Most people know that I'm bad at making up my mind....for example, so far I've written about 3 or 4 sentences, but that doesn't mean that I've only been staring at the screen and typing for a minute or two. I've been here for a while, wanting to say something, but having nothing to say at all. Another example of my indecisiveness is the fact that this year I "changed" my major 5 or 6 times (none officially). I (think that I) have settled on Accounting.....but, I don't know. We'll see. I'm pretty sure I have A.D.D. :)
This year I've been able to practice my Spanish a lot more than last. I took one literature class at school, but ultimately I've just been trying to practice more on my own and find ANYONE who looks remotely latin to talk to. I'll even try to strike up conversations with perfect strangers at a lake or in the grocery store just to speak it. I have thoroughly enjoyed reading a few chapters from novels in spanish and studying the Book of Mormon in spanish too.
Now there's one thing that I'm sure of--I love the Spanish language and I love the latin-american culture. I had the chance a couple weeks ago to make a video call to some friends in Guatemala and talk to them for a while. It was amazing to be able to connect to friends that live so far away. You may have noticed an extra button on my blog below my profile--it's a Skype button to call me when I'm online. If you don't have skype, you should get it--it's free. Anyway, you can use skype to call me and eventually have video conversations with me :)
How do people do these blog things? How does everyone have SOMETHING to say? And who would actually want to read someone blah-blah-blah-ing on the computer? Every couple of months or so I think that it's a good idea to write something down for the world to read....then I change my mind. But today, my friends, I wrote something. You're welcome! :)
Oh and btw (by the way), I'm going to try something new with my blog in 2009. It will (most likely) have a very new look. So stay tuned for that. Until next time.....
