This year has been full of "firsts" for me: First time at a university, first time with a phone sales job, first time to actually understand taxes (at least a little bit), first time to arrange for my own auto insurance, first time getting engaged (just kidding), first time buying a bike, etc. But, I think the most jaw-dropping firsts were: seeing snowfall on my birthday (late April) and seeing snowfall on June 11th! This has truly been some weird weather that we've been having. And I hear it's not just in Rexburg.
I know, you're probably thinking, "Okay, Trent's getting old if all he can think of to talk about is the weather..." I'll move on...
School's going great. There is one month left until the semester is over, which is great news for me because I'm getting a little stir-crazy here in little ol' Rexburg. It's great being on my own and experiencing life, but there's something about Washington and being around family that I just miss. Sometimes, I think about doing "FastTrack" to get done with school quicker, but right now, I'd rather take a break. Maybe next year I'll have the mental stamina to make it through year-round school. We'll see.
Last weekend, I was able to drive down with some newly-found friends to Utah. I went to see the mission farewell for the Sloans. It was a great meeting and there are no doubts in my mind that they will all do great on their missions. It was nice seeing some family and spending some time with them. I was also able to practice my Spanish with a gentleman who is originally from Mexico. I think I ended up spending over an hour talking with him at the Sloans' open house. Overall, it was a fun weekend.
