I served in my fifth and final area for four transfers. I was excited to r
eturn to the same zone where I had started my mission. This zone was special because we, as a mission, considered the people who live there as pure lamanites. The people there speak one of the 21 Mayan dialects called K'iche'. K'iche' is their first (and for many, their only) language. For the people that did speak Spanish, it was their second language. I had the opportunity to learn a little K'iche' and even contact, teach, and testify in the language.
One of my favorite experiences was helping a K'iche'-only family learn about the church, get married, and join the church.
I was able to help Faustino, Juan, Martina, and Samuel get baptized into the church. I was blessed to see a whole family (Juan, Martina, Samuel, Angelina, Patricio, and their daughter) join the church.
