Tierra Blanca (1 of 5)

Area: Tierra Blanca and San Bartolo
Zone: Momostenango
Dates: 7/27/05-10/18/05
Companions:
1. Brian Fuller (my trainer)
2. Logan Nelson (step-trainer)

I served in my first area for two transfers (two six-week periods). In my first two weeks, I dropped all the weight that I had gained in the MTC. This was mostly due to the fact that I was now traversing the hills of Guatemala, and I guess we can give a little credit to the parasites causing the diarrhea.

I had the opportunity to see José learn more about Christ and get baptized at the ripe old age of 78 years.

"We know not all that lies ahead of us. We live in a world of uncertainty. For some, there will be great accomplishment. For others, disappointment. For some, much of rejoicing and gladness, good health, and gracious living. For others, perhaps sickness and a measure of sorrow. We do not know. But one thing we do know. Like the Polar Star in the heavens, regardless of what the future holds, there stands the Redeemer of the world, the Son of God, certain and sure as the anchor of our immortal lives. He is the rock of our salvation, our strength, our comfort, the very focus of our faith."

~President Gordon B. Hinckley
